Behind those gilded gates lies one of the finest examples of French Beaux-Arts architecture in the city. Even from the outside, the Petit Palais is extraordinary, and it makes the most breathtaking setting for a luxury dress photoshoot in Paris.
The golden door is the main entrance to the museum. To photograph it fully closed, sessions must take place before opening or after closing. We always plan accordingly. Here are the museum opening hours to keep in mind when booking.
Monday : Closed all day
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Sunday : 10am to 6pm
Friday and Saturday : 10am to 8pm
We recommend morning sessions, before 10am, or booking on a Monday. Evening sessions after closing are possible but busier, as other photographers often queue for the same shot.
The Petit Palais was built for the 1900 World's Fair, and over a century later it remains one of the most ornate and photogenic buildings in the city. The centrepiece is the golden door: an intricately sculpted gate flanked by columns, arches and gilded details that frame a dress like nothing else in Paris. We also use the surrounding facade and forecourt to capture wider, more architectural compositions.
Luxury dresses and princess dresses are our top picks for the Petit Palais. The grandeur of French Beaux-Arts architecture calls for something equally refined. The golden tones of the facade pair particularly beautifully with warm and rich coloured gowns.
Practical info
Before 10am or on Mondays
Morning sessions are our top recommendation. The golden door is at its most beautiful before the museum opens, with soft early light and no waiting.
Luxury and Princess dresses
The Beaux-Arts architecture is the perfect foil for our most refined and opulent gowns. Other styles are welcome, but these two shine brightest here.
Heels are fully fine
The forecourt and surrounding area are even and easy to navigate throughout the session.
Cherry blossoms in late March to April
Beautiful cherry trees line the forecourt of the Petit Palais in spring, adding a soft floral layer to the already magnificent architecture.
Go early or on Monday
After closing, the spot attracts other photographers and visitors. Morning sessions give you the golden door with full creative freedom.

Beyond PETIT PALAIS
By default, a 1H session covers the Petit Palais. The Pont Alexandre III is just steps away and can be added with a simple +30 min upgrade. For a fuller session, here are our favorite combinations from this spot.
The Petit Palais has no Eiffel Tower view. If you'd like to add the Iron Lady to your session, the Trocadéro is our top recommendation.

The most ornate bridge in Paris, just a short walk away. Gilded lamps, sculpted cherubs, and a sweeping view of the Seine. A natural and effortless extension of the Petit Palais experience.
Walkable. Just add our +30 min option to your session.
Two of the grandest cultural landmarks in Paris in one session. For clients who love the opulence of classical French architecture, this is the ultimate combination.
