10 Tips for a Flawless Paris Group Photoshoot (10 to 50 Guests)

Planning a group photoshoot in Paris is easy when the logistics are designed for large groups. From 10 to 50 guests, timing, location choice, and a clear shooting flow make all the difference. This guide shares the practical tips we use to keep big groups organized, comfortable, and on schedule.

Planning a group photoshoot in Paris is simple… when the logistics are built for large groups. From 10 to 50 guests, the difference between “fun” and “chaos” comes down to timing, location choice, and a smooth shooting flow. Here are the practical tips we use at Flying Dress France to keep large groups organized, comfortable, and on schedule.

Book early (large groups require real coordination)

For groups of 10 or more, booking early makes a huge difference. Large group photoshoots require more planning, a larger crew, and a tighter structure on timing and locations. The earlier you reach out, the easier it is to secure the best time slot, choose a location that can truly fit your group, and build a smooth flow so no one is left waiting around.

Choose the best time slot (early morning is a game changer)

For large group photoshoot, early morning is usually the best option. You get more space, fewer crowds, and cleaner backgrounds, which makes it much easier to keep everyone together and stay on schedule. It’s also more comfortable for the group: less heat in summer, less stress year round, and a smoother flow from the very first minutes of the shoot.

Pick locations that actually work for large groups (not all Paris spots do)

Some Paris locations look perfect in photos, but they simply don’t work well for 10+ guests. For large groups, you need space to gather everyone, room to move without blocking foot traffic, and the right angles to fit the entire group comfortably in frame.

That’s why we often recommend Trocadéro for big groups. It offers one of the best, most iconic views of the Eiffel Tower, which is exactly what most groups come to Paris for. It’s also spacious, and the stairs allow us to shoot from a higher angle for clean, well-composed group photos. Another practical bonus: guests who finish earlier can easily grab a coffee nearby instead of waiting in the cold or heat while the rest of the group wraps up.

Another excellent option for large groups is the Seine riverbanks right below. It’s a pedestrian-only area with a clear, open view of the Eiffel Tower, which makes it very comfortable for group photos without feeling cramped. It’s also a great way to add variety without losing time: we can start at Trocadéro, then walk down together to the riverbanks for a second set of looks and angles. It’s an easy, smooth transition for groups.

Of course, we’ll always recommend the best location based on your group size, the time of day, and the vibe you want.

Limit the number of locations (moving 10+ people takes time)

With 10 guests, every move takes longer than you expect. With 20, 30, or more, it can quickly become the main challenge of the day. Relocating a large group means lost time, extra stress, and a lot of waiting around, which is exactly what makes the experience feel less enjoyable.

That’s why, for large groups, one location is often the best choice. A spot like Trocadéro gives you the Eiffel Tower view most groups want, plenty of space, and everything you need to create variety without wasting time in transit.

If you do want two locations, we can absolutely make it work. Depending on your group size and timing, we may recommend organizing transportation, or splitting the group into two teams with two crews so both locations can be covered smoothly. As always, we tailor the format to your group’s needs.

Choose one point of contact (it keeps everything simple)

For large groups, one main contact is essential. When 10 to 50 guests are all messaging the studio, decisions get slower and details get lost. The smoothest group photoshoots always have one coordinator (maid of honor, organizer, team lead) who centralizes the information and relays it to the group.

On our side, we keep planning structured with clear steps and simple tools. For example, if dresses are involved, we can use individual questionnaires to collect each guest’s preferences (sizes, colors, and choices) without confusion. But to keep everything efficient, we still need one main point of contact to confirm the final decisions for the group.

Book longer than you think (timing is the #1 mistake with large groups)

Most large groups underestimate how long it takes to get real variety: group photos, individual portraits, and a few duos or trios. A reliable baseline is 1 hour for 5 guests if everyone wants individual photos.

If your group is bigger, you have two good options. You can book a longer session to keep things relaxed and enjoyable, or we can scale the team and run the shoot in parallel. For example, with two photographers shooting at the same time, we can cover around 10 guests in 1 hour. With three photographers, around 15 guests in 1 hour. The right setup depends on your group size, the type of photos you want, and how fast you’d like the experience to feel.

Plan the photo order and sub-groups in advance (this keeps everything fast and smooth)

For large groups, the shooting order and the sub-groups should be decided before the day. It avoids confusion, reduces waiting time, and keeps the experience enjoyable for everyone.

There are two main scenarios:

If your group is not booking dresses, the smoothest flow is to start with the full group photo, then move into individual portraits (and a few duos or trios if you want). Once guests have their photos, they’re free to leave, grab a coffee nearby, or continue their day without having to wait for others to finish.

If dresses are involved, the flow is different. We usually shoot individual photos first while our assistants are dressing other guests, then we bring everyone together for the final full group photo once everyone is ready. This keeps the dressing process efficient and prevents the entire group from waiting at the same time.

In both cases, it helps a lot to plan your sub-groups in advance: who you want together, any must-have duos or trios, and any key combinations you don’t want to forget. Ideally, your main point of contact also plays the role of “group conductor” on the day. Since they know everyone’s names and the list (which we don’t), they can guide guests in and out quickly, keep the energy up, and help our team make the whole experience fast and seamless.

Coordinate colors (especially if you want a strong group photo)

If you have a full group photo in mind, color coordination makes a bigger difference than most people expect. You don’t need matching outfits, but a shared palette creates a cleaner, more elevated look and makes the final group shot feel instantly more cohesive.

Pick 2 to 3 main tones (for example: neutrals, black and white, soft pastels), then keep patterns and logos minimal. The goal is simple: when everyone stands together in one frame, the image looks intentional rather than random.

If your group is booking dresses with us, we’ll help you coordinate colors as well. Our team can guide dress color selections ahead of time, then pose the group in a way that makes the color harmony look balanced and intentional in the final shot.

Changing setup matters (and we handle it)

Even when a group photoshoot is booked without dresses, we still include one or more assistants to keep the day running smoothly: coordination on site, helping with the flow, and capturing backstage videos along the way.

If anyone wants to change outfits (or if dresses are included), we bring our mobile pop-up changing cabins so guests can change privately and comfortably.  This is especially useful at spots like Trocadéro, where there aren’t public restrooms right next to the shooting area. The cabins avoid unnecessary back-and-forth, time loss, stress, or guests getting separated from the group, so the session stays smooth and on schedule.

For every group, we adapt the setup to your size: the number of assistants and the number of changing cabins are planned in advance to keep everything fast, smooth, and stress-free.

Dresses for the whole group (and a process that actually works)

If you want the full flying dress experience, the biggest challenge for large groups is simple: having enough dresses, in enough sizes and colors, without turning the planning into chaos. This is exactly where our expertise makes the difference. We’re the only teams in Paris able to provide a flying dress for everyone, even for very large groups.

To keep it smooth, we use a structured questionnaire system for dress selection. Each guest submits their top 3 dress choices in order of preference, size, and we use that information to organize the wardrobe plan and do our best to match everyone with the dress they want. Our collection includes many colors, and the dresses are adjustable to fit a wide range of body types, typically from XS up to 4XL.

Ask for a preferred group offering (it’s standard for 10+ guests)

If you’re booking a group photoshoot in Paris, it’s completely normal to ask your photographer if there’s a preferred group offering. Large groups require more coordination, and the format can be adapted depending on what matters most to you: how many guests want individual portraits, whether you want dresses, how many locations you want, and whether you need multiple photographers.

At Flying Dress France, we do offer preferred group options for 10+ guests, shared on request. Just tell us your date, group size, and what you want included, and we’ll recommend the smoothest format.

FAQ – Paris Group Photoshoot

How long should we book for a group of 10 to 50?

A solid guideline is 1 hour for 5 guests if everyone wants individual portraits, plus group photos and a few duos or trios. For larger groups, you can either book longer for a more relaxed pace, or we can scale the team and shoot in parallel (for example: 2 photographers can cover around 10 guests per hour, 3 photographers around 15 guests per hour).

Can we do the photoshoot without dresses?

Yes. Dresses are always optional. You can book the photoshoot only, add dress rentals for a few guests, or choose a full dress experience for the entire group.

Can only some guests wear dresses?

Absolutely. Many groups mix formats (some guests in dresses, others in their own outfits). We’ll plan the flow accordingly so it stays smooth.

Which Paris location is best for large groups?

It depends on your group size, timing, and vibe, but Trocadéro is often the best choice for 10+ guests because it’s spacious and offers one of the most iconic Eiffel Tower views. We’ll recommend the best spot(s) based on your needs.

How do we avoid chaos on the day?

Two keys: plan the photo order and sub-groups in advance, and choose one main point of contact who can help guide people in and out quickly (they know the names and the group list).

What if we want two locations?

It’s possible. For large groups, we may recommend organizing transportation, or splitting the group into two teams with two crews so the experience stays efficient.

How does dress selection work for a large group?

We use a questionnaire system where each guest submits their top three dress choices in order of preference. Based on that, we organize the wardrobe plan and do our best to match everyone with their preferred dress.

What if someone wants to change outfits during the shoot?

We bring mobile pop-up changing cabins for groups, which is especially helpful at spots like Trocadéro where restrooms aren’t right next to the shooting area. We adapt the number of assistants and changing cabins to your group size so the flow stays smooth.
